Last week the students registered in the course in commercial floriculture made a trip to Auburn and Syracuse, where they made a study of the stores and commercial ranges. Ealph Ros- kelly, president of the Bool Floral Co., and David Murray, superintendent of greenhouses in the department, accom- panied the students on the trip. In Auburn they found the houses of Shaw «& Boehlcr, and Terence W. Gilbert in ex- cellent condition. Mr. Gilbert caters to a class of rather particular people and for this reason grows a great variety of plants, among them a good many which are ordinarily found only in private col- lections. At the Shaw & Boehlcr range a practical forced draft heating appara- tus received particular attention. In Syracuse the students made a study of the stores of Werner Bultman and the P. E. Quinlan Co. At both stores they found the owners eager to give them all the information possible. Later they visited the Edwards range and the houses of the P. R. Quinlan Co. At the Edwards range they found well grown chrysanthemums and carnations and they were also impressed by the fact that every inch of space was being util-.
