A fine German court sword with gold-plated silver hilt, Dresden, circa 1750 Double-edged thrusting blade of flattened hexagonal section etched and gilt and with the inscription, "HONI SOIT QUI MAL Y PENSE" on both sides. Fine openwork gilt (remnants) silver hilt chiselled in rocaille and geometric designs. The Dresden hallmark for 13-lötig silver, the "D" between crossed swords under an open crown, is stamped on the inside of the guard with the maker's stamp "W B" on the opposite side. The grip and pommel finely pierced in a net-like pattern revealing the gilt ,
