A fine German court sword with gold-plated silver hilt, Dresden, circa 1750 Double-edged thrusting blade of flattened hexagonal section etched and gilt and with the inscription, "HONI SOIT QUI MAL Y PENSE" on both sides. Fine openwork gilt (remnants) silver hilt chiselled in rocaille and geometric designs. The Dresden hallmark for 13-lötig silver, the "D" between crossed swords under an open crown, is stamped on the inside of the guard with the maker's stamp "W B" on the opposite side.
