Urban river view towards san Cristobal Hill of brown Rio Mapocho, with concrete channel political graffiti, Santiago, Chile

The brown water Rio Mapocho, flowing from the Andes, splits Santiago in two. It was canalised in the 19th century to manage river floods and allow urban development of the river banks. It is considered an ugly river. Autumn trees are an attraction on the river banks. The concrete channel sides are also a prominent location for artistic graffiti, including political slogans.
