These were bought by the women for personal adornment. Small roses were also in demand. The sale of locally grown roses has been quite good. Prices have ranged from $4 per hundred for short-stemmed stock to $20 for good grades. Hadley brought up to $40 per hundred. The quality of sweet peas is not so good as it was prior to Easter. They can be had in quantities at $ per hundred. Bulbous stock is about at an end, but there are still some extra fine Darwin tulips offered at low prices. Stock that has been bringing $12 per hundred has dropped to $8, with lower levels in prospect. There are also some excellent Murillo to be had, and a few good Narcissus poeticus are coming into Washington from the south. They are offered at $1 per hundred, but meet with little or no demand. Carnations have been plentiful since Easter, but are not selling well. Some have brought as high as $6 per hundred, but one can get all the carnations de- sired at $4 and $5. Lilac flooded the market around Easter time, but the sup- ply has eased up considerably just when there is a good demand for it. A con- siderabl
