I do not knowwhen he left Settle, but on his second marriage he is described in theFriends Register as late of Settle. In 1773 he was in Americainspecting an estate of 1280 acres near New Garden in North Carolina,which he purchased, but he returned to England in 1774, and later on settledat Wanborough, near Guildford. He married first, 9 July, 1762, at Wray,Lancashire, Hannah Bradford of Lancaster; she died 27 January, 1764,buried at Settle,
