He was fondof painting pictures with some slight dramaticconnection. After leaving Munster, Ter Borchvisited the court of Spain, and was received withhonour by Philip IV., who knighted him. Fromthere he visited France and returned to Holland,where he lived from 1650-54 at Zwolle, and thenfinally he settled at Deventer, where he marriedhis cousin, and became a member of the towncouncil, and afterwards Burgomaster.
