At 5:57 on Friday, May 14th, 2021, the East Hampton Fire Department was called to Moby's Restaurant at 341 Montauk Highway, East Hampton for a heavy smoke condition. Arriving units found a fire in the basement, and called for mutual aid from the Amagansett and Sag Harbor fire departments, as well as the East Hampton Town Fire Marshal's office. An initial fire found in the basement was knocked down quickly, but as the fire had extended into the joists in the floor above units needed to remove sections of the first floor in the bar area of the restaurant to attach hidden pockets of fire. There were no injuries, and all units were put back in service at 9:25
