Risso's dolphin (Grampus griseus) at the surface. This dolphin is named after the Italian–French naturalist Antoine Risso (1777-1845), whose description of it was used by Cuvier in 1812. It has characteristic markings (seen here), a pale colour, and a vertical notch on its forehead. It is found worldwide and can reach 3 metres in length, feeding mainly on Photographed off the Azores, a group of islands in the northern Atlantic Ocean.
