A pair of French flintlock pistols,Gabriel Tezenas of St. Etiènne,circa 1780. Octagonal then round barrels with their original bluing and smooth bores in 14 mm calibre. Finely gold-inlaid signature "" inbetween blossoms and leaf tendrils on each upper barrel flat. One barrel with(English?)acceptance mark on the side. Bright flintlocks,arched bolt plates marked "à ". Walnut stocks with iron furniture,wooden ramrods. Length 27 cm each. Gabriel Tezenas(1725 - 92),recorded gunmaker in St. Etiènne. Cf.
