D. Batchellor,Division Etigitieer Toledo Division On October 21, while riding in tool carwith wreck train coming from Carlisle, noticed broken arch bar on trainextra No. 4554 that was passing. Hesignalled Conductor Coats, who stoppedthe train. The trucks were changed andMr. ONeil took the defective car to Day-ton. A complimentary letter has been sentto Mr. ONeil by Superintendent accompanying picture shows the brokenarch .. l^ai aetected by R. ONeil Mr. W. H. Crist, Chief Dispatcher,Dayton, Ohio. Operator C. Morris, Wayne Avenue,noticed something dragging on No. 55s en-gine going by. He notified conductor atdepot and found brake rigging down. Healso noticed brake rigging and beam downabout 15 cars from caboose on Big Four6009, west, following No. 55. He stoppedthem on bridge and found brake beam downand in bad shape. This would have causeda derailment at Miami City or going throughbridge. Good work for this operator.(Signed) G. E. S. Roberts, on duty on thistrain, also rendered valuable assistance toto this sick passenger. After train departedfrom Chtllicothe, while passing through
