The citizen who comes to Vermilioncounty to-day enjoys all the privileges andadvantages known to the older east, whois surrounded by the evidences of progressand de\-elopment known to the world in thelast half century cannot realize what wasthe condition which the pioneer of fifty yearsago faced. The Davis family is one of theoldest of the county and James Davis welldeserves honorable mention among the earlysettlers who, taking up their abode here
