A 3-year-old orangutan from the island of Borneo in Southeast Asia attracts visitors to the San Diego Zoo in Southern California, USA.
A 3-year-old orangutan (Pongo pygmaeus) stares at visitors to the San Diego Zoo in Southern California, USA. Orangutans are the only great apes to come from Asia (Borneo and Sumatra). These gentle forest animals are noted for their reddish-brown hair. Males like this one eventually can weigh more than 200 pounds (90 kilograms) and live longer than 50 years in captivity.
