A wagon road leads north, up the eastside of fhe river, over which a stage runsregularly to the Sweetwater Country—The principalcities are South Pass, Atlantic and Hamil-ton. They are situated four miles principal occupation of the citizens isquartz gold mining. Many of the minesare said to be very rich, but for some rea-son very unprofitable to w()rk. The prin-cipal mines are on Sweetwater River, a trib-utary of Wind River, which passes throughvery rich mineral and agricultural coun-try. Wind River is a tributary of the BiijHorn River, which empties into the Yel-lowstone. The streams abound in fish, in-cluding trout of excellent flavor. Thevalleys and mountains furnish game inabundance, including deer, elk, antelope,mountain sheep, buffalo, cinnamon, brown,black and grizzly bears.
