Sydney Australia 1959: A young family and friend look on while builders work on the new backyard of a red brick home in Turramurra on Sydney's north shore in Australia. In the days before lightweight excavators, large tree stumps were removed by being set on fire and slowly burnt out. Grace Bros (department store) Home Plans Service, established in association with the Sunday Telegraph Newspaper, Sydney, was launched in April 1954 and this home is based on one of those plans.
