Pyrolusite (grey) in quartz (white). Pyrolusite is a mineral consisting mainly of manganese dioxide and is an important ore of manganese. Quartz (silicon dioxide) is the second most abundant mineral in the Earth's crust, after feldspar. This specimen measures 40mm across and was found in the High Atlas mountains, Morocco.
