Hebuilt the tower and spire of the church of All Saints, Stamford,and in 1485, founded the well-known Bede House in his nativetown, still known as Brownes Hospital. He was a merchantof the Staple of Calais, and is described by Leland, as a manof verie wonderful richnesse.
