Maha Shivaratri,a Hindu festival, celebrated annually,with puja of the god marks belief that Shiva married to the goddess Parvati. The festival, also known as 'Shivaratri' 'Great Night of Shiva', marks the convergence of Shiva and festival is celebrated by offerings of Bael leaves to Shiva, all-day fasting and an all-night-vigil. Shiva temples are flocked by devotees to perform the traditional Shivalinga worship and seek favours from the God.
