During the Scottish Wars of Independence Norham Castle was known as the most dangerous place in England.


Norham Castle one of the most important of the Border castles was built in 1121 by the Bishops of Durham a long and turbulent history saw many famous visitors and it's place in history though little known is significant in the Wars and Peace of the Scottish Border. Visitors have included King Edward I, King David of Scotland, Robert the Bruce, Turner, Beatrix Potter, Field Marshal Montogomery
