Koonangkuppam Village Ponneri Circle Tiruvallur District Tamil Nadu State India THis village and it s nearby island was devasted by the 2005 Tsunami On the island itself over 600 people were killed by the flood out of a total population of only 3000 The island has not been re populated after the emergency evacuation and is being preserved as a memorial to the victims of the disaster
