When the tumult of Ms reception had subsided he listenedpatiently to the debate. The opiMon which he pronounced wasusually ratified by the vote of the assembly ; and he then left thetheatre amidst the same cheers which had greeted Ms arrival. IntMs happy and honoured condition he breathed Ms last in 336,a few years after the battle of Crimesus. He was splendidly in-terred at the public cost, wMlst the tears of the whole SyracusaDpopulation followed him to the Plato.
