News of these facts was sent to Ludolphus byEmanuel Nawendorff, a native of Altenburg residentin Batavia. In return the Emperor sent 10,000 silvertaels and thirty Japanese dresses, so that, as thiscorrespondent of Ludolphus says, they were amplypaid for.
