Trumpet Natural Trumpet, Willem I bought this trumpet in 1813 and donated it to the corps bodyguards on horseback, an elite unit that the Netherlands had defended against Napoleon. Their names are engraved in long rows on the cup, such as Graaf van Limburg Stirum and Baron Desmet van Deurne. On March 26, 1814, shortly before William's honor as sovereign prince, this trumpet was presented to the former bodyguards during a ceremony on Dam Square.
