The papers date from the 1790s through 1860. This handwritten, single page document is an account of taxes owed by the estate of John Rouzee to the Sheriff of Essex County for the year 1823. The total tax amount due was fifty-five (55) dollars and thirty-five (35) is noted that payment by Edward Rouzee was received November 24, 1823. On the reverse is written "Est. Jn Rouzee" along with ntoes on the amount and date paid. Both sides are written in black ink.
