Lung disease. X-ray of the chest of a 88 year old male with a history of lung disease. The patient has previously had part of the right lung (seen at left) removed, a lobectomy, to treat tuberculosis (TB). The bronchi, the airways of the lungs, have become dilated and distorted, a condition known as bronchiectasis. This damages the tissue making it more prone to infection. It is a result of scarring caused by previous lung infections.
