Edinburgh, Scotland. Fri 15 April 2022. Audience experiencing artist Appau Jnr Boakye-Yiadom’s performance work “During: Compliment” at the Fruitmarket Gallery. “During: Compliment” is a sound–based performance that challenges the idea that live performance involves seeing the performer’s body. Originally presented in London in March 2022, the Edinburgh iteration was performed by Scotland-based musicians (double bass, piano, drums, flute and saxophone), who played the music hidden behind a screen with only their feet visible.
