He severed his connection withthe University in 1901, and has since been activelyengaged in the practice of his profession in AnnArbor. He is a member of the American Medi-cal Association, the Michigan State Medical Society,the ^Vashtenaw County Medical Society, and theAnn Arbor Medical Club. On July 27, 1893, hewas married to Emma Elizabeth Buys, of Sturgis,Michigan. GEORGE HEMPL was born at Whitewater,Wisconsin, June 6, 1S59, son of Henry Theodoreand .^nna (Haentzsche) Hempel. He is of Germanand Slavic descent. His early education was in thepublic schools of Chicago, Illinois, and of BattleCreek, Michigan, including a high school course atthe latter place.
