The arch of the Alai Darwaza at the Qutb Minar Complex in Delhi, India. It is the first building in India to use entirely Islamic architectural principles of symmetry and ornamentation. This is known as the Sultan's gateway and is located to the south of the Quwwat-ul-Islam mosque and was added in the lifetime of Alauddin Khalji (d. 1315).
