Nahal Me'arot caves. Tools made by early humans, in a cave in the Nahal Me'arot national Park, Israel. The tools were found in these caves in the Carmel Mountains. The caves contain evidence of over 150 thousand years of pre-historic human habitation. Humans are thought to have lived here throughout three distinct cultures; the Acheulian culture, Muarian culture and Mousterian culture, starting with Homo erectus and ending with Homo neanderthalensis (Neanderthals).
