It inhabits both theopen sea and saltwater lochs in from seven to thirtyfathoms water. I have never heard of its occurrencein a littoral locality. It is found throughout the seasof Northern Europe. Templeton at home, and DeliaChiagi abroad, have mistaken varieties of Ophiocomarosula for it. DAISY BRITTLE-STAR. 53 OPMURTDsE. DAISY BRITTLE-STAR. Ophiocoma bellis. Link. Specific character.—Disk subpentangular, convex, covered with small rosulatedscales, divided by spinous spaces. A cordiform depression opposite the originof each ray. Upper ray-scales ovate, separated and bordered by granular ray-plates, bearing from four to six conical flattened spines, which areshorter than the breadth of the ray.
