Penshaw Monument, on a winter day, seen across snowy fields in Sunderland, England.

Snow lies on Penshaw Hill around the local landmark, Penshaw Monument. Penshaw Monument (also known as The Earl of Durham's Monument) was erected in memory of John George Lambton, the Earl of Durham and first Governor of Canada in 1844. It is a popular area for walks and sledging on snowy winter days.
