Thus Ihad no success that day; but tried again on the morrow io6 WOODLAND, FIELD, AND SHORE in a similar way, with the result that another platewas wasted. 1 found that while sitting the bird couldsee me approach, and so left the nest before I reachedthe pneumatic ball. Finally I put another plate inthe camera, and built a little wall of earth beyond thenest, so that the Lark should not see my approach ;. SKY-LARK AT HOME. and then, after a few hours, I again returned, and thistime was successful in getting a photograph whichwell repaid all my trouble. The Sky-Lark is one of our sweetest summer singers,and is a little bird which we could not do meadow in springtime without a Lark would haveits crieatest charm missino;.
