A miscel- laneous tent would have proved im- mensely popular and this year, of all years, vegetables should have been allotted some space. But when all is said and done, the fact is apparent that June flower shows in America are not a success from a financial standpoint. Newport, New York and Boston have all found this out. Gardeners' and Florists' Club. The officers of the Gardeners' and Florists' Club have purchased a $500 Liberty Loan bond for their reserve fund. Many members have also pur- chased bonds. Several members of the club have already joined the colors, while others are expecting to be drafted. All such will be kept square on the books for the duration of the war. After the transaction of regular business at the next meeting, June 19, a collation and dance will be given. A charge of 50 cents each will be made for the entertainment. At the Sep- tember meeting W. H. Elliott will talk on California. In October there will be a vegetable lecture and exhibition, the display to be opened for public inspec- tion. In November a chrysanthemum lecture and exhibition will be .
