Binary star Porrima in three different years


Porrima, or Gamma Virginis, a binary star system (two stars orbiting one another) photographed in three different years. Porrima is located around 38 million light-years away from Earth in the constellation Virgo. Following the date, under each picture the apparent distance between the two stars is given in arcseconds (1/3600th of a degree).
