The darter in flight with its dinner CHANDIGARH, INDIA AMAZING IMAGES taken December 1st 2023 show the moment an oriental darter swoops down and grabs his dinner to go. Images show the oriental darter perfectly catching a fish then flying off with the meal before having time to flip the fish down its gullet as is standard practice. The Oriental darter is a water bird of tropical South Asia and Southeast Asia. It has a long and slender neck with a straight, pointed bill and, like the cormorant, it hunts for fish while its body is submerged in water. These images were captured by businessman Anuj Jain (45) from Chandigarh, India. Anuj captured the flighty bird in Chandigarh, India on his Nikon Z8+180-600mm. ?Normally when a Darter catches a fish, it tosses it in the air to swallow it. But this time the darter started flying with the catch,? said Anuj. ?It probably felt threatened because of the presence of other birds in the area. ?This is not a typical sight at all, I for one have never seen a darter taking off with a fish in its beak. ?I felt lucky to have sighted this unusual behaviour and to have captured it. ?I love the shot of the darter in full flight with the fish just in its beak and water droplets kicking up around it, a beautiful moment for many elements in nature. ?Wildlife photography gives me a chance to capture moments that are otherwise not possible to see with naked ENDS
