The image shows the White Star Liner Belgic, a British transport ship utilized by the , arriving at Hoboken, New Jersey from Brest, France on January 16th, 1919. The ship brought 3188 troops, mostly from the New York state draft contingents, including the 49th Infantry. In the picture, the ferryboat General Weston can be seen leaving Pier 58, carrying troops. The photograph was taken by Lt. Geo. H. Lyon on January 29th, 1919 and was approved by the censor on January 30th, 1919.
