The Naked Dance Festival called the Hadaka Maturi at Saidaiji Temple Okayama Japan Asia
The Hadaka Matsuri, or naked festival of Saidaiji Temple in Okayama City, is said to be one of the liveliest in Japan. Taking place in February, the coldest time of the year, this festival starts at midnight when two wooden sticks called shingi are thrown into the midst of some thousand men who wear only loin cloths. Those who touch the shigi are said to be bestowed with good fortune for the coming year, so competition for the shingi is fierce.
