J^f clematis was awarded afirst-class certificate of merit byunanimous vote of the Massachusetts HorticulturalSociety. It originated in the nursery of E. F. Dw^er& Sons, Lynn, Mass. The flowers are 2 inches indiameter, nicely poised on long, stiff branching stemsand having from 25 to 50 sweet-scented beautifulflowers on each stem. Two stems are produced ateach joint and the joints are from 4 to 5 inches blossoms are white, shaded to a delicate laven-der-blue on the edges and on the tips of the petalsand are produced in marvelous profusion. In itsseason of bloom from the first to the last of August,it is the glory of the garden, there being no otherplant of any description that can rival its daintybeauty.
