SAN DIEGO – Members of Coast Guard Sector San Diego honored the fallen aircrew from Air Station Barber’s Point, Hawaii, Wednesday morning during morning colors. Four Coast Guard members lost their lives when their HH-65C helicopter crashed into the water just south of the Honolulu International Airport September 4, 2008. This was the first fatal aviation mishap since 1982. Five Coast Guard Ensigns were raised; one for each crewmember of the 2008 crash and one in memory for the loss of the crew and helicopter in 1982.
