Rockpile was a strategically important location during the Vietnam War, unloading helicopters quickly and efficiently was crucial. This photo, taken in October 1966, captures a UH-34D helicopter making a "tippy-toe" landing on top of the Rockpile. The pilot kept the helicopter under full throttle due to the precarious situation.
