A bronze statue of the Lemhi Shoshone woman Sacagawea by Leonard Crunelle on the state capitol grounds in Bismarck, North Dakota


A bronze statue of the Lemhi Shoshone woman Sacagawea (also Sakakawea, Sacajawea) (c. 1788 - December 20, 1812) carrying her infant son Jean Baptiste Charbonneau. Sacagawea was an interpreter and guide for the Lewis and Clark Expedition of 1804-1806. The statue is located on the state capitol grounds in Bismarck, North Dakota. The 1910 sculpture was created by the American sculptor Leonard Crunelle (1872-1944).
