Jokulsarlon Glacier Beach South East Coast of Iceland

The volcanic beach next to Jokulsarlon Glacier Lagoon in South East Iceland is one of the most mystical, photogenic and amazing tourist destinations to visit. Massive pieces of ancient blue glacial ice from Jokulsarlon Glacier drop off the end of it into the melt water which forms the lagoon. There is a channel down which the icebergs float. These float out to sea and are pushed back onto the black volcanic sand at high tide. Glacial ice has a blue hue due to the ice being compressed over thousands of years. Iceland offers many photographic tourist trips run by photographer guides for photographers. This image was shot in January at sunrise when there are only 4 hours of daylight per day.
