Pvt. Campbell captured a photograph on Jan. 2, 1919, at the entrance of a dugout in Germany. The dugout was fifty feet deep and extended underground for 500 ft. It was made of boarded walls, floors, and ceilings and was electrically lit. The location was on the top of Mount, two miles south of Heudicourt on the road to St. Mihiel, Meuse, France. The photograph was approved by the censor but the specific date was not provided.
