This photo : The Monument to the Dynasty was commissioned by Belgium's very first monarch, King Leopold I, and was erected by Louis De Curte between 1878-1881. Located opposite the main entrance of the Royal Palace, it was built in neo-Gothic style and topped by a marvelously crafted spire with a gilded crown. It is supported by 9 arches, each representing one of the Belgian provinces. In the middle there is a sculpture of King Leopold I.
