Quirang Rocks, view from The Table, Isle of Skye, Scotland, 20th century. Basalt rocks surrounding Quirang, a moving landslip on the eastern face of Meall na Suiramach, on the Trotternish ridge on the Isle of Skye, Scotland. Quiraing (in Gaelic, Cuith-Raing) comes from Old Norse Kvi Rand, which means Round Fold. This elevated plateau amongst the pillars is said to have concealed cattle from Viking raiders.
