LARGE CHEESE—Cheese shaped, in flavor like the Crookneck squash; yellow-fleshed, fine-grained, and very productive; superior to most field varieties. SUGAR—This variety is smaller fnan the Large Field, but of finer grain, sweeter and very prolific. First-rate, either for the table or for feeding stock. BURPEE'S QUAKER PIE—This very distinct and valuable variety hails from Washington County, N. Y. It is of peculiar shape, being unlike any other; it is oval and tapers toward each end. It is of a creamy color both inside and out. By being stored in a warm, dry place, the pumpkins can be preserved until late in the winter. JAPANESE PIE PUMPKIN. This re- markable va- riety comes from Japan, and makes a valuable ad- dition to our pie and cook- ing pumpkins. The flesh, is very thick, nearly solid, the seed cav- ity being very small in one end of the pumpkin, usu- ally finegrain- ed, dry and sweet, having much the same taste and appear- ance as sweet potatoes. The seeds are peculiarly marked and sculp- tured rn Japanese characters. CUSHAW, CROOKED NECK-Solid flesh, fine and sweet; keeps well. TENNESSEE SWEET POTATO. Grows to a me- dium size, pear- shaped, a little ribbed, color ere amy white, sometimes lightly striped with green; flesh thick, creamy white, re- markably fins grained, dry and brittle,and of most excellent flavo r.
