Distribution. From Montana and Colorado westward covering immense areas. The characteristic sage brush; similar species are the A. trifida, Nutt, a smaller plant common westward, and the A. arhuscula, Nutt., also a dwarf â plant found in the high mountains and elevated plains; the A. cana, Pursh, from 1-2 feet high; silvery canescent leaves; found from Saskatchewan to Dakota, Montana and Colorado.
