Statue of the pilgrim (el peregrino) at El Santuario de Chimayo in New Mexico. The statue has round his neck a scallop shell and a cup, the traditional symbol of the pilgrim. The inscription on the base welcomes pilgrims from the four corners of the earth to the site. His waistcoat of woll represents the work of weavers in the village of Chimayo.
