EVANSVILLE, IND. Tlie Market. , Business holds up remarkably well, considering the many people out of the city enjoying their vacations. Of course funerals cause the greatest demiand. for flowers just at this time. Asters and other outdoo^ flowers are quite plentiful and are mostly used. Roses and carna- tions are short, but are improving in quality. This month has been cooler than' for a good many years. Plenty of rain lately has helped all outdoor flowers. Various Notes. Earl Zeidler has finished glazing the two new, houses. They are 25x300 and equipped with the Advance ventilator machines. He has torn down all of Ms old houses, with the exception of one small house. The houses will be heated by steam; a sixty'horse-power boiler al- ready is bricked in, ready for fire as soon as the piping is done. He has car- nations planted in solid beds about 100 feet long, in each house. The beds have concrete sides. Julius Niednagel & Sons have been busy planting carnations and mums. The plants are all in good condition. The large house that is in line with the new street being opened will be moved right away. The Wm, Blackman Floral Co. has been having the usual good business for this time of the year. Ben Kramer reports business as brisk last week. He is using a good many asters. Henry Seymour has all of his carna- tions planted and they are getting a nice start. Louis Fritsch says trade has been better so far this summer than ever be- fore. E. L. F.
