Tower cranes used for post recession investment & construction manchester City Centre

The site is located in a prominent gateway position into the Regional Centre marking the entrance to the City Centre from the airport and the south. The new home for the merged Cornerhouse and Library Theatre Company will be an exceptional multi-art form production-focused contemporary arts organisation. This four star hotel will be operated by Melia Hotels International for their Innside brand – the first in the UK. With 208 beds over 11 storeys, including a wellness suite, restaurant, bar and conference facilities, the hotel will be operational in spring/summer 2014. With up to 1 million visitors a year expected to visit First Street from 2014, these new leisure and amenity facilities will help to create the buzz and vibrancy of this destination. This building comprises a 700 space multi storey car park, small scale retail facilities and food and beverage uses. Of exceptional design, the 250,000 sq ft building will be the key gateway in to the city centre, providing a mix of retail, hotel, leisure and car parking all overlooking fabulous new public square. Wates and Carillion are main contractors on the development of First Street, which is being delivered in a joint venture between Ask Property Developments and Manchester City Council. They are holding a ‘Meet the Buyer’ event on Tuesday 10th September from 8am until 12pm. The event is to take place at Number One First Street, Manchester. Interested parties are asked to register. Wates Construction has begun work on the £25m delivery of Home at First Street, the new venue for the merged Manchester arts organisations, Cornerhouse and the Library Theatre Company, in a 6,000 sq m three-storey building. Home will include a theatre, studio and gallery space, five cinema screens, digital production/broadcast facilities and a café bar and restaurant. Wates also began work in June on a £ contract to relocate Moston Fields Primary School and is seeking subcontractors and suppliers for this.
