Osprey (Pandion haliaetus) catching a fish. This bird of prey is found near coastal and inland waters throughout the world. It feeds on fish, either watching from a waterside perch or flying or hovering over the water. When it spots a fish it dives on it with its talons and lifts it from the water, taking it back to a perch to eat. It can reach a length of around 60 centimetres with a wingspan of around metres. Photographed in September in Kent, UK.
